Writing With A Difference

I'm coming to you live (if you read this as I hit publish) from my girlfrind's living room at 11:00 at night. This is different in that I have never had the laptop to myself and being able to do what I wanted/needed to do. this is just unusual, so I thought I'd write something about it.

It's nice being able to do something different at times. And in this case, make a post online without wires connecting me to the wall, yet still working. I think I can get used to this wireless thing.

So tell me, what can you do differently, either by day, afternoon or night, that lets you write under a different circumstance?

Writing Without Reason

It just sort of came to me while I was sitting here. I don't need a reason to write all of the time. Sometimes I can just type what comes to mind, save it, use it later on and just see what comes of things.

Such is the case with this. Using Microsoft Word 2007, they have a way for you to post to your blog via the program itself.

So here I am giving it a try to see how well it works, what it does and all of the necessary things one does when testing something.

So as I near the moment of publishing it, here is hope that it works out fairly nicely.

Remembering That Last One

Today, the last issue of the University News for this year (school year) hit the stands.

In this issue, it's customary that those seniors on the staff who are graduating in 2 weeks write their thoughts of the past 4 years, their memories of what took place or what didn't, but wish it had, as well as their dreams and aspirations for their lives ahead.

Each column from these writers stirs something within me. For the most part, I don't know these writers on any real level outside of the occasional article I read of theirs. And to tell you the truth, I don't really know if I have read any of their material or not.

It takes me back to my days in school writing for the school paper. I was news editor for a semester. I know, it wasn't nearly long enough. There was just something about spending long hours for no pay that I wasn't that interested in.

Looking back, I too see what I should have done all those years ago. I too might have had something worthy of writing for a "final" column. Maybe I would have had many more experiences, late night discussions and trouble waking up the next moring for class.

I do know it would have made a world of difference had I just stuck with what was working at the time.

For those who want to read the columns, the online version comes out a few days after the print issue. But check http://www.unewsonline.com/ in a couple of days to see what they present.

Now It's Your Turn...

What "back then" moments do you wish you had done different? What inspired you over the past few years? What do you plan to do with this knowledge in your writing adventures?
